The jury congratulates Sahand Sahebdivani, Raphael Rodan, Guillermo Celano and Iman Spaargaren with the performance My Father Held a Gun, which won the Amsterdam Fringe Festival Gold Award this year. My Father's Hero Gun presents a current and important story about the war between men and between humans. The performance has a simple pure form, with two very strong narrators. Striking is the smart way in which the story is told, with the storytellers and characters being closely linked. The jury is also impressed by the quality of the performance. Sahebdivani and Rodan play all the time and respond quickly to the audience; rarely players are so relaxed and sparkling at the scene. Also the musical accompaniment is good and supports the story in a fine way. In short, a great show and a hopeful plea for peace!
