Release Undercurrent Trio's High Tide Low Tide on Flea Boy Records fall 2019

news

The exciting international group Undercurrent Trio plays thrilling, free and intense music. Saxophonist, (bass) clarinet player Iman Spaargaren (NL), guitarist Guillermo Celano(ARG) and drummer Marcos Baggiani (ARG) join forces.

The music of Undercurrent Trio offers a wide variety of different moods. Melodies from the heart tell a story while the band moves through musical landscapes using different timbre and contrasts. Adventures in musical styles create cinematic music in dreamy colours, dark gloomy thick grooves or sharp edgy political commentary.
The three musicians explore the engaging and sometimes compelling compositions by taking much freedom of expression and by creating strong interplay and fierce improvisations by all three members. The unusual instrumentation of clarinet, bass clarinet, tenor saxophone, guitar and drums offers the listener a fresh sound. The use of musical space is a strongpoint of the Trio. Music on Flea Boy Records

High Tide Low Tide

Artistic production by Iman Spaargaren, Guillermo Celano & Marcos Baggiani
Recorded at Studio Dirk, Amsterdam on 8 & 9 October and 22 November 2018

In turbulent times people are looking for interpretation, an anchor if you will. Artists, philosophers, political scientists, sociologists, journalists and others are constantly commenting on the current era but they are not unequivocal in their explanations for the apparently overstrained state of the human brain. We can only guess what the future will bring, but it is certain that there are fewer and fewer certainties. The 11 compositions of High Tide, Low Tide give a tense and a calm, a short-tempered and a philosophical, a malicious and humorous image of a kaleidoscopic collection of man's expectations, fears and feelings of hope and salvation.

Mixed and mastered by Chris Weeda at Studio Rapenburg, Amsterdam January 2019
