Review Sly Fly in Nederlands Dagblad

"The latest album by the Dutch jazz group Eyeman All Stars sounds festive and funky as if everything is fine. Band leader and saxophonist Iman Spaargaren seems to want to stear the course of things in a positive way with this project" (Johan Bakker, Nederlands Dagblad)
The Utrecht musician, who also plays in the StarkLinnemann Quartet and his own Undercurrent Trio, decided not to wait any longer with the release of Sly Fly.
The album combines the best ingredients from different musical genres: heavy funk grooves, played by the organic-sounding double bass of Hendrik Müller, fierce, infectious beats by drummer Efraim Schulz-Wackerbarth and stimulating key parts on Fender Rhodes and piano by Dirk Balthaus.
Spaargaren himself provides the bigger part of the improvisations. The saxophonist quotes from Eddie Harris' inviting music and John Coltrane's free jazz. Spaargaren translates this music to our time. And it works: when you listen to these new pieces, the world gets more color. Carolina Altavilla's art work is also worth mentioning.

+ festive, funky and above all positive music
+ the best ingredients from different musical cuisines
